Brooklyn Beckham, the eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham, said he doesn’t want to reconcile with his family because he believes his parents have controlled his life and ruined his relationships.
On January 19th, Brooklyn Beckham (27 years old) posted a lengthy message on Instagram Story, speaking for the first time about his nearly year-long conflict with his family. He asserted that he is not being controlled by anyone and believes his parents have influenced how the media portrays the Beckham family for many years.
According to Brooklyn, the image of a happy family, parties, and relationships has been a mandatory part of his life since birth. Recently, he has witnessed his parents trying to spread misinformation to the media in order to maintain the image of a perfect family.

Brooklyn accuses his parents of constantly interfering with and sabotaging his relationship with his wife, actress Nicola Peltz, even before and during their wedding. He claims his mother canceled Nicola’s wedding dress at the last minute, forcing her to scramble for another outfit. Before the wedding, his parents pressured him to sign a name-sharing agreement, which could have long-term consequences for him and his future family. Brooklyn’s refusal to sign reportedly led to his parents treating him differently.
During wedding preparations, Brooklyn recounts his mother calling him “evil” for his seating arrangements for family members. The night before the wedding, some family members told him Nicola “wasn’t family.” He also claims his mother ruined their first dance at the wedding, leaving him feeling deeply embarrassed and hurt.

Brooklyn said his family consistently treated Nicola disrespectfully, even allowing his ex-girlfriends to interfere in their private lives. Following these negative experiences, in August 2025, Brooklyn and Nicola renewed their marriage vows to create a new, happier, and more peaceful anniversary.
He also criticized his family for prioritizing the Beckham brand and commercial deals over family affection. According to Brooklyn, “family affection” was judged by appearances on social media or participation in media events, regardless of the impact on personal life and work.

Brooklyn denied being controlled by his wife, claiming that his parents had controlled his life for many years. He shared that since leaving his family, he feels a sense of freedom, peace, and gratitude for the life he has chosen. Brooklyn affirmed that he and his wife only desire privacy, peace, and happiness for the present and the future.
This is the first time Brooklyn Beckham has publicly spoken out since reports surfaced that he blocked his parents’ social media accounts and requested that they only communicate through their lawyer. The Beckham family began attracting media attention regarding a rift in April 2025, when Brooklyn and Nicola were absent from all family events. David and Victoria Beckham have yet to officially respond to their son’s statements.
